Who does not know Bill Gates? He is the co-founder of one of the largest company on Earth, Microsoft Corporation. His is also one of the world’s richest men.

Bill Gates lead Microsoft through rise of the personal computers by providing an operating system that could run on a variety of machines. He also expanded Microsoft’s reach beyond the OS and into browsers, media players, search engines, web-based email and other software-based applications.

In this post, we will take a look at seven amazing facts about Bill Gates.

Fact 7. Bill Gates was arrested for speeding on multiple occasions.

In 1975, 22 year old Bill Gates was arrested in New Mexico for speeding and driving without a license.

In 1997, he was arrested again, this time for running a red while driving without a license.

Fact 6. Bill Gates used the mugshots from his arrests in a Microsoft promotional ad.

In 2008, Bill Gates appeared in a series of Microsoft promotional ads alongside comedian Jerry Seinfeld. One of the ad featured them shopping at a shoe store. In the video, Bill Gates holds up a membership card with the 1977 mugshot from his speeding violation.

Fact 5. Bill Gates is monolingual.

Bill Gates has mastered many programming languages. In fact, the very first product of Microsoft was an interpreter for a language called BASIC.

However, Bill Gates speaks only one human language, English. Gates has said that not learning to speak any language other than his English is one of his biggest regrets.

Fact 4. Bill Gates is color-blind.

In a 2006 interview, Bill Gates revealed that he is color-blind.

Fact 3. Bill Gates spends two weeks alone in the forest every year.

Bill Gates spends seven days at his hideaway cottage on a cedar forest waterfront, partaking in a twice-yearly ritual he calls his “Think Week.”

Fact 2. Bill Gates held the #1 spot on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires for 18 out of the past 23 years.

From 1995 to 2017 he was at the top of the list, but has since been bumped to
the number two spot by Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.

Fact 1. Bill Gates is an honorary knight.

Queen Elizabeth II of England made Bill Gates an honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2005 for his charitable and philanthropic efforts.
